Josh Hill Dressage

Josh Hill Dressage

Josh is a 20-year-old Dressage rider based at his home yard in East Grinstead which is very much a family affair.  Josh began riding at the age of 7 on his neighbour Faith Bedford’s Shetland pony Coedpoeth Jennifer who got him hooked on horses. Luckily for Josh Father Christmas delivered his first pony Bella and Josh has never looked back since.

By the age of 13 Josh had been convinced to love dressage by a talented pony called Seren Benfro who even took Josh on a trip to the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky by winning the British Riding Clubs Rider Test Championships at The  Royal Windsor Horse show.  Together this partnership was selected onto the Pony National Training Squad.

Bewunder then stepped up to become Josh’s new team mate. He was imported from Germany as a 3-year-old from Christian Heinrich. Josh then produced Barney with the assistance of Sharon Edwards and Barney remains Josh’s top horse,  having won 3 Regional titles and 3 Reserve National Titles. Currently Barney is competing at Advanced Medium with the aim to be at Prix St Georges by the end of the year.

Josh currently trains with Emile Faurie and also has had huge support from List 1 judges Maryanne Horn and Leanne Wall. Josh gained huge experience as Senior Rider for International dressage rider Sarah Millis. He successfully trains and competes both his own and client’s horses. Out of these he successfully qualified 4 horses for the British Dressage Winter Nationals 2017. Josh was recently named in Horse and Hound as one of the under 25 dressage riders to watch.

Josh is a very talented sympathetic young rider who has a passion for working with young horses and takes time and patience with each horse he rides. Josh focuses on variety coupled with routine. 2017 is holding a lot of promise for Josh, follow him on his Facebook page for regular news and updates.
